On this International Women’s Day, we pause to reflect on the incredible work and unwavering dedication of women in leadership. Their strength, vision, and resilience continue to shape our world in profound ways.

Today, Saturday, March 8th, 2025, in beautiful Oak Bay, Vancouver Island, BC., we commemorate and honour the first three women to serve as Mayor of Oak Bay:

Frances H. Elford (1970-1973)

Susan M. Brice (1986-1990)

Diana M. Butler (1991-1996) 

We are deeply thankful for the barriers they’ve broken, the change they’ve driven, and the paths they’ve paved for future generations. Today, we celebrate them, proud of their unwavering commitment to progress, and grateful for the tireless efforts they put forth every day to inspire and lead with excellence.
